Your window tinting questions
Window tinting starts from $250 for the front two windows and from $500 for a full car. The final price depends on your car and the film you choose.
Yes, as long as the tint stays within South Australia’s limits. These are set out in the Road Traffic (Light Vehicle Standards) Rules 2018:
- Front side windows (driver and front passenger): tint can’t take the window below 35% visible light transmission (VLT).
- Rear windows on a passenger car: no darker than 20% VLT.
- Windscreen: no tint, apart from a band across the top 10% of the glass or above the wiper sweep.
- The limit: The tint can’t be mirror-like. The SA reflectance limit is 10%.
A lower VLT number means a darker tint, and your car’s factory glass already has some tint of its own, so we take that into account. We measure every installation to make sure it complies.
Most cars take about half a day, or 3 to 5 hours for a full tint, and you can usually collect your car the same day. Leave the windows up for 24 to 48 hours afterwards so the film can cure.
